This class will provide an introduction of ethics, and its application to various issues in medicine, health care, and the use of pharmaceuticals. Topics may include: abortion, euthanasia, medical paternalism, medical experimentation, access to drugs, access to medical procedures, and the allocation of medical resources. (Gen. Ed. AT)

Open to first-year students in the Perspectives in Health Topics RAP in Kennedy Hall. Students in Perspectives in Health Topics RAP in Kennedy Tower will enroll together in "Medical Ethics" (Philosophy 164). In this course, we will turn a philosophical eye to issues concerning medical concepts, what knowledge medical research can provide, and the ethical issues that arise in the context of medicine. This course will provide students with a philosophical toolkit and a general background in ethical theories.
