U.S. health care system with emphasis on issues relating to unequal access to health services. An analysis of how the system should work. Special attention to controversial issues, including managed care and health insurance. How other countries design health systems. (Gen.Ed. SB, DU)

Open to first year students in Health Sciences RAP in James. Students in Health Sciences RAP in James Hall will enroll together in "Health Care for All" (Public Health 129). This course will provide an overview of the United States health care system with emphasis on issues relating to unequal access to health services. We will discuss topics including cost, quality, access, structure, workforce, managed care, health insurance, and how other countries design health systems as we try to optimize our health through the healthcare system.
