This seminar is designed to welcome international graduate students who have never studied in the USA into the UMass Amherst community. It will provide students with tools and strategies for a smooth transition to the campus and for building a foundation for a successful academic experience. Students will be exposed to keys to success in graduate studies through understanding the structures and procedures of a major research university. Additionally, students will be introduced to a number of campus offices, programs, and resources which will help them to thrive in academic as well as social aspects of university life. Equally as important as the topics studied will be the students? engagement in an assortment of group activities aimed to develop mastery of a variety of personal well-being and academic skills critical for success in graduate school. This class is offered in face to face format only.
