Students in this course will read key texts in the practice of exhibit design, including work on writing for exhibits, exhibit planning, and design. Some field trips will be involved. Students will be expected to develop, as a team, a complete exhibit plan ready to transmit to designers.
Students will gather for five synchronous gatherings, usually about 75 minutes, with guest speakers (for the schedule, please contact the instuctors); other class time will be spent in small groups, working in collaboration with other students toward the final exhibition proposal.
Students in this course will meet with a series of practitioners and other experts in the work of creating museum exhibits, and will read key texts in the practice of exhibit planning, including work on writing for exhibits, exhibit design, and evaluation. Students will be expected to develop, as a team, a complete exhibit plan, and to present their proposal to the various stakeholders involved in the exhibition.
