Continuation of THEATER 362. Costume design theory, conceptualization, and solution of related problems. Design projects, concept papers, journal, sketch book, and appropriate design work for department productions. Prerequisites: 300-level theater courses or equivalent, consent of instructor. May be repeated for credit. Satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BA-Theatr majors.
Open to students majoring or minoring in Theater with testing agreement only. Pre Req: THEATER 362 SPECIAL TOPIC: In the spring of 2021, this course would focus on costume design for Children?s show and new play premiere. TYA (Theatre for Young Audience) is a unique community for American Theatre. Over hundreds of theatre spreads through the US serve specifically for Children and the younger generation. Costume design for children?s show is also fascinating due to its visual affection and imagination. The instructor would invite staff or designers broadly working in TYA theatre in the USA as guests to share students their experiences. The class is also going to work with professional playwright Sarah Saltwick to design a costume for her new play Egress. It is a new written that has never been produced before.
