This seminar will support your transition to college and introduce you to a topic in public health and health sciences. The first six weeks will provide foundational skills for students to thrive at UMass. The last seven weeks will focus on exploring the topic: The Science of Fitness for all Bodies through Pop Culture. This course provides students with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the science of fitness for all bodies. Through the lens of epidemiological data and pop culture we will explore what it means to be fit, how to achieve fitness, and why fitness level is the best indicator of overall health and mortality.
