Advanced ecology course that examines the interplay between aquatic organisms and their physical, chemical, and biological environment, with an emphasis on freshwater lakes and streams. Students will learn basic ecological concepts and theory and sampling methods, and apply them to understand the impacts of human activities on aquatic ecosystems and strategies for conserving and managing freshwater ecosystems. While there are no formal prerequisites to accommodate graduate students with diverse backgrounds, students should have completed coursework in general biology, chemistry, and ecology.
Open to ENVIRSCI and NRC juniors & seniors and ECO, Sustainability Science, and Civil & Environmental Engineering graduate students. Two semesters biology, one semester chemistry, one semester ecology or permission of instructor.
