Mentoring with Big Brothers Big Sisters is a service-learning course where you will learn about relevant issues of youth development and gain effective skills as a youth mentor - which you use as a "big" to a "little" through the Hampshire County Big Brothers Big Sisters organization or within a local afterschool program.

This is a service-learning course and all students will be involved in a youth mentoring activity and will require a CORI screening. Students engaged with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program will go through a more extensive process that includes completed application, CORI and National Criminal Record screening, driving records, comprehensive interview and references, etc. Students placed with BBBS must also make a commitment to be a mentor for at least three semesters.

Alternative placements at local after school programs are also available.

For more information and to register for the course contact Candice Travis, CESL Academic Advisor & Student Outreach Coordinator: 413-545-5721 / ctravis@umass.edu

Permission is required for interchange registration during all registration periods.
