This practicum applies decolonizing methods to archaeological collections management and the repatriation of Indigenous cultural materials. Students will learn about the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) as it applies to archaeological and ethnographic collections in the US. This is a hands-on practicum where students will gain experience in culturally appropriate methods for the care and documentation of cultural materials to support on-going repatriation processes.

Open to senior Anthropology majors only. Anthro seniors all others by instructor permission.

Students can sign up for 1-3 credits with permission of the Instructor. Limited to 6 students with previous credit hours in archaeology or museum studies. In-person project work will be held on Fridays in Machmer E-15.

Varies from 1 to 18 credits

Permission is required for interchange registration during all registration periods.
