Architecture 597SC - ST- Shipping Container Design

This course explores alternative design solutions for low-energy, affordable housing through the use of up-cycled shipping containers as the basis for modest but innovate housing. This course will be the design phase of a design/build collaboration with Yestermorrow Design/Build School. Students will gain experience with all phases of a design project from ideation through schematic design and ultimately technical documentation. Particular emphasis will be given to building science and the integration of technical and aesthetic concerns.
