This independent study project builds on lessons learned in CICS 305 and other CS courses to explore ways of bringing ethical considerations to specific development activities. The group will create a Cloud Application focusing on facilitating communication within specific minoritized student populations. The goal of this cloud platform is to provide localized services for Chinese international students in Amherst. Students will focus on our target audience's needs, and they will engage in user research to inform and enact a user-centered design methodology. Students' design process will prioritize exploring and developing technical methods for protecting users' privacy while enabling site functionality which is defined as effective communication between our users. This course counts as a CS Elective for the CS Major and an Elective for the INFORM Major.
