What do murderers and (most) nutrition influencers have in common? Denying the facts. We are bombarded with a constant stream of nutrition information through social media and in the news. How can we evaluate all these complex topics and find the truth? Are GMOs going to kill me like @pseudoscience.health.guru says? Are seed oils really poisonous? What does the evidence actually say? The answers may surprise you. Throughout the semester, we will investigate common nutrition related myths. Who is innocent? Who is guilty? At the end of this course, you will be able to evaluate and identify examples of logical fallacies and techniques of science denial in food and nutrition research through examples of food crimes, diet lies, and sometimes even murder.
