History 690STA - Hist/Science in Modern China

This seminar will explore the booming field of history of science in modern China, along with the sibling fields of history of technology, energy, environment, and medicine. Students will read and present on one book each week, will complete two short book reviews, a longer review essay, and a final project on a subject of their choice. Final projects make take a variety of formats, depending on how the seminar fits into their curriculum and career goals. Examples include: research paper, historiographic paper, undergraduate syllabus, museum exhibit, and historical fiction.
