Satisfies the Junior Year Writing requirement. The impact of computers on modern society.

Open to juniors and seniors with Informatics as their primary major who have completed ENGLWRIT 112 with a grade of C or better (or English Writing Exam waiver) and INFO 248. Due to high demand for graduating seniors, capacity has been set to zero temporarily while graduating seniors are pre-enrolled.
SATISFIES JUNIOR YEAR WRITING REQUIREMENT. ODD LECTURES FOR CS MAJORS; EVEN LECTURES FOR INFORM MAJORS. ELIGIBILITY LIMITED TO CS OR INFORMATICS PRIMARY MAJORS ONLY. CS OR INFORMATICS SECONDARY MAJOR MUST TAKE JUNIOR YEAR WRITING COURSE WITHIN PRIMARY MAJOR DEPARTMENT. LECT 01-02 MEET TOGETHER; LECT 03-04...LECT 13-14, ETC. SPIRE WILL ONLY RECOGNIZE THE ENGLWRIT112 PREREQUISITE WHEN TAKEN AT UMASS AMHERST. JUNIOR AND SENIOR CS AND INFORM MAJORS WITH AP CREDIT, TRANSFER CREDIT, OR A WAIVER FOR ENGLWRIT112 WHO MEET THE OTHER STATED PREREQUISITES WILL NEED ASSISTANCE TO ENROLL VIA THE OVERRIDE FORM FOR CICS 305: https://www.cics.umass.edu/overrides.
