Seminar-sized course in literary and rhetorical criticism. Organized around themes, it stresses analysis from critical and theoretical perspectives that sharpen understanding of texts, their contexts, and our reading of them. This course fulfills the Junior-Year Writing Requirement. Sub-Title: Legends of Arthur

This class is intended for English primary majors only.

Introduction to the Arthurian legends, in both romance and chronicle, in medieval English literature, stressing both their significance to the societies they reflect and Malory's use of the earlier romances and chronicles in his great achievement, the Morte D'Arthur.
