English 355 - Creative Writing Fiction

A seminar in writing short stories and other fiction for students who demonstrate familiarity with the basis of scene and story. Students write regularly, read and criticize one another's writing, read in contemporary fiction. Prerequisite: ENGLISH 354 with a grade of 'B' or better.

ENGLISH 354 w/B To apply for this prose workshop, by TBD, please send one email to emeidav@umass.edu with the subject heading PROSE (your name) into which you will paste two paragraphs: one sample of your creative work in prose, and one paragraph of creative autobiography, touching on your influences and interests. By TBD, applicants will know their status. Registration after this date is possible, but priority will be given to students who meet the TBD deadline. Please let us know 1) if you are seeking the specialization in Creative Writing and 2) when you plan to graduate. Registration by department permission only.
