This course will focus on contemporary movements in the discipline of archaeology through the scholarship of Black, Indigenous and other People of Color (also centering the voices of BIPOC, Queer & Transgender archaeologists to help us understand how much archaeology has changed). The course is based on the work outlined in Black Feminist Archaeology (2011) and the impact of the text on current research and perspectives. We will explore themes such as intersectionality, the politics of collection, decolonizing archeology, community-based praxis, and the impact of social and political movements on how archaeologists work.

for this grad level course it is preferred you have taken ANTHRO 103 or 150 or similar intro course course. If not please contact the instructor
