This course offers a systematic and practical introduction to sample size and power analysis for the most commonly encountered scientific study designs. Students will learn the key conceptual elements and gain hands-on experience in computing sample size and power using relevant software (such as R, SAS, Stata, and PASS).

This course will meet for 4 weeks: 11/18, 11/25, 12/2, 12/9 and will be in person only.

Prior knowledge of some computing software (R, Stata, and/or SAS) is required for students taking the course for credit. For auditors, either knowledge of the above computing software or prior
exposure to some sample size software (PS, PASS, nQuery Advisor or Epi Info) is required.

Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
