The World Wide Web was proposed originally as a collection of static documents inter-connected by hyperlinks. Today, the web has grown into a rich platform, built on a variety of protocols, standards, and programming languages, that aims to replace many of the services traditionally provided by a desktop operating system. This course will study core technologies, concepts, and techniques behind the creation of modern web-based systems and applications. This course satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for CS and INFORM Majors.

Open to juniors and seniors in Computer Science or Informatics. COMPSCI 220 or 230w/C THIS COURSE IS HYBRID. NO OPTION FOR PASS/FAIL. SATISFIES INTEGRATIVE EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT FOR CS AND INFORM MAJORS. PREREQUISITE CHANGE EFFECTIVE FALL 2024: COMPSCI 220 (OR COMPSCI 230) WITH A C OR BETTER. STUDENTS IN LEC 01 WILL ATTEND CLASS IN PERSON ON TUESDAYS (LEC 02 WILL ATTEND CLASS IN PERSON ON THURSDAYS) AND STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO WATCH RECORDED LECTURES ASYNCHRONOUSLY FOR SECOND 75 MINUTES OF CLASS PER WEEK. REQUIRED LABORATORY ATTENDANCE IS ON-LINE SYNCHRONOUSLY. SEATS ARE BEING SAVED FOR INFORM MAJORS AND INCOMING TRANSFER STUDENTS UNTIL THE END OF NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION AND TRANSFER (NSOT) ENROLLMENT PERIOD AT THE END OF JULY.
