First-year (R1ST) Title: Unveiling the Science of What You Eat: Exploring Food Mysteries
Are you intrigued by the nutritional makeup of your daily diet and its influence on your well-being? Would you like to delve into the captivating realm of food analysis and nutrition? Join this class for an immersive exploration of the scientific principles underlying your dietary choices. Throughout this course, you will embark on a hands-on journey to comprehend the composition of various food products and their effects on your body. Through engaging experiments, you will investigate the impact of acidity on pH levels, assess the quality of oils, explore the source of fruit sweetness, and more. By doing so, you will unravel the mysteries of food science and its significance for your health. Like other First Year Seminars, we will also cover skills to help you succeed in your first semester at UMass Amherst.
