First-year (R1ST) Title: Are you sleeping on research?

Description: Why and how do we sleep? What even is sleep? Why don't I get enough sleep? In this course, we will dive into the mechanisms of sleep, learn about sleep research, debunk some myths about sleep, and discuss strategies for establishing good sleep hygiene. The goal of this seminar is not only to learn about sleep, but how to engage with research articles, check the validity of news articles and social media posts, and how to talk about scientific topics with non-scientific audiences. We will also discuss strategies for success during your first semester of college, getting engaged with campus activities, and getting involved in research.
