First-year (R1ST) Title: Eating with Awareness: Exploring Food Allergens and Labeling
Description: Understanding food allergy and food labeling practices can empower individuals to make informed dietary choices. In this course, you will explore the major and minor food allergies and the role of food labeling in promoting awareness and safety for susceptible individuals. Get ready to uncover the science behind the allergies, explore the maze of food labeling, demystify complex marketing gimmicks, discover practical tips for navigating life with allergies, and gain awareness from grocery shopping to dining out. Like other First Year Seminars, we will also share ways to help you succeed in your first semester at UMass Amherst.
