First-year (R1ST) Title: TRANSlational Research: Gender affirming care for Trans and Non-binary People
Description: Historically, gender affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) has been studied for the aging population, but not for Trans and Non-binary people. Why is this? How should GHAT research be done to benefit Trans and Non-binary people specifically? How can the needs of people starting GAHT be better communicated to, and met by, friends and family? Let's explore these questions together. In this class we will dive into: GAHT research, Trans history (it's a long, rich history!), animals that transition to survive, and LGBTQ+ resources available on campus. This class is for anyone who is interested in this topic, and all are welcome to this safe space where differences are celebrated and supported. Like other First Year Seminar courses, we will also learn and practice skills for college success!
