First-year (R1ST) Title: Wired Differently: Exploring the Diversity of Brains in the Animal Kingdom
Description: Dive into the multiverse of animal nervous systems with this course. From the tiny brains of parasitic wasps to the complex brains of octopuses, this course explores the incredible variety of nervous systems in the animal kingdom. Through a blend of lectures, group activities, live demos, and interactive discussions, students will learn about the diversity of brain structures and the variety of behaviors they control. Join us as we embark on a journey to uncover the fascinating diversity of animal brains and the insights they offer into the complexity of life on Earth. Like other First Year Seminars, this course will also help you successfully navigate your academic journey at UMass Amherst.
