First-year (R1ST) Title: Thriving in Uncertainty
Description: The college experience is fraught with uncertainty. Choosing a major, picking classes, and making friends are all decisions without guaranteed outcomes. However, we can still be empowered to make the best decisions for ourselves! In this course, we will explore the psychology and philosophy of decision-making. We'll answer questions such as: how do we make smart decisions when the outcomes are uncertain? How do we differentiate good decisions from bad ones? And what strategies can we employ to avoid decision-making biases? Additionally, you will learn skills to help you succeed in your first semester at UMass Amherst.
