First Year Seminars that are part of the Residential Academic Program (RAP), are seminars where students will explore the subject of the associated RAP. Students participate in small group projects and class discussions. Provides a supportive environment for personal reflection and critical thinking on the topics germane to the course content. Open to first-year students. First-year (R1ST) Topic: Exploring Machine Learning: A Beginner's Guide to Practical Applications
This course is crafted to provide a comprehensive introduction to machine learning for students without prior experience in computer science or engineering. Its goal is to demystify machine learning, answering fundamental questions like what machine learning is and why it is a powerful tool for an engineer. By bridging theoretical concepts with practical applications, the course offers insights into both the advantages and constraints of machine learning in real-world applications.
