This seminar will support your transition to college and introduce you to a topic in engineering. The course will be an exploration of an exciting engineering-related topic of societal impact. This seminar will also introduce basic skills and available resources skills for life as a college student.

First-year (R1ST) Topic: Formalizing Problems in Engineering
This course is designed to introduce the process of moving from an identified engineering problem to finding possible solutions, evaluating their effectiveness and finally presenting the results to your peers. The course will cover different approaches for converting a real world problem into formal design objectives and specifications, comparing proposed solutions and exploring the different tools available to researchers to present their results including written reports, documentation, basic statistics and graphs. The focus will be on hands-on experience and learning from real world examples.
