Law as an institution of argumentation to articulate disputes, create and interpret rules, and invoke state power. Focus on controversial legal issues, including abortion, capital punishment, pornography, regulation of drug use, religion and state, and control of crime, with materials drawn from various disciplines and sources. Intended to assist students in developing their ability to analyze, critique, and make arguments. (Gen. Ed. SB)

Open to Legal Studies majors only. This course can be taken concurrently with Legal 250.
