Introduction to the fundamental tools of statistical quality control and related statistical techniques. Topics include control charts, sampling plans, process capability indices, and other statistical techniques. Emphasis on basic concepts, their application, and the risks associated with various quality control procedures.

Open to Industrial Engineering majors only. Pre Req: M&I-ENG 273 This is a core course for Industrial Engineers. MIE 422 will be available to non-IEs three weeks after enrollment begins. MEs interested in taking this course as a technical elective should email Kevin Romani (kromani@umass.edu) requesting permission to be enrolled in the course with your SPIRE ID number included beginning on April 8th. You should make this request as soon as possible after the 8th, as Kevin will then enroll students on April 29th and will do so until the course is full. Please make sure you are not already enrolled in a course that conflicts with this meeting time or that this course would put you above the maximum number of credits per semester (19).
