An introduction to string theory targeted at graduate students with some prior knowledge of particle physics, quantum field theory and/or general relativity. We will study the bosonic string spectrum and interactions, worldsheet conformal field theory, background fields and effective actions, toroidal compactification, T-duality, D-branes, superstring theory and nonperturbative dualities, as well as other topics as time allows. Provides a natural introduction to the study of quantum gravity more generally, as well as conformal field theory (CFT), effective field theory (EFT), and other perturbative and non-perturbative aspects of quantum field theory (QFT).
