This is a one semester Communication Thesis Seminar on Communication and identity. We will survey a broad range of theories and methods for studying the relationship between concepts of language, culture, community, nationality, technology (and the institutions that support these concepts), and the (always political) meanings assigned to personal and social identities. Alongside the topical content on identity, in the first weeks of the semester you will develop a thesis or portfolio project proposal to conduct an original research project on some relevant topic. The remaining portion of the semester will be devoted to literature review, project design/research methods and implementation of your individual research projects; each will culminate in an archivable Honors Thesis.

This course is open to senior Commonwealth Honors College students only. Enrollment by instructor permission.

Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
