Introduction to principles of human factors (ergonomics). The necessity for considering the human aspect of design of tools, machines, systems of people and machines; the literature, and how to use it; how to quantify data about people.

Open to Industrial Engineering majors only. Pre Req: M&I-ENG 273 This is a core course for Industrial Engineers. MIE 360 will be available to non-IEs three weeks after enrollment begins. Mechanical Engineers interested in taking this course as an ME technical elective should email Kevin Romani (kromani@umass.edu) requesting permission to be enrolled in the course. The email should include your SPIRE ID number and a note if MIE 273 was taken as a transfer course. You may message Kevin beginning November 6th, and he will enroll students who have made the request beginning November 27th and will do so until the course is full. Please make sure you are not already enrolled in a course that conflicts with this meeting time or that this course would put you above the maximum number of credits per semester (19).
