Field-based lab providing students with hands-on learning experience in forest ecology. Field labs focus on foundational topics in forest ecology including: physiography and site quality; forest soils and nutrient cycling; ecological succession; forest dynamics; community structure; natural disturbance; and invasive/non-native species. Labs feature visits to local forest sites to demonstrate and formalize ecological concepts learned in other courses. Learning objectives will be achieved through individual field observations, group discussions, and interactive activities designed to provide students with hands-on experience collecting and interpreting ecological data.

NRC 212 This section has additional lab fees.
