In this course, you will be introduced to a variety of techniques and forms of experimental and expanded animation. You will use the materials of time, sound, texture, place, and performance to produce conceptual films that create a physical experience for your viewer. Through short exercises and longer projects, you will gain hands-on experience with optical devices, collaborative animation, abstract narratives, performance and/or site-based work, and animation that otherwise leaves the four sides of the screen. In the spirit of experimentation, you will be asked to become an inventor and innovator of optical techniques.
Open to Undergraduates with majors in BA-Art, BFA-Art, and BFA-Art Education only. ART 276
