This course examines how images, both still and moving, shape our perception of reality across politics, religion, celebrity culture, and beyond. This course explores the role of visuals in propaganda, religious iconography, and celebrity image construction, as well as the creation of fake images through digital technology. Through lectures, case studies, and hands-on workshops, students will analyze, detect, and debunk fake images, considering the ethical challenges and societal impacts. By the end, students will have a nuanced understanding of visual disinformation and the skills to critically engage with digital imagery.
