First-year (R1ST) Title: Uncertainty 101: Making Sense, Making Decisions
Description: Our world follows the rules of chance as much as it obeys the laws of nature. And many of our choices are more like bets than decisions-from choosing a career path or making financial investments to winning awards or going viral on TikTok. So how do we make those bets? How can we tell if they're good? Where does new information fit in? In this course, we'll explore concepts and tools that help us answer such questions. Like other FYS courses, we'll build community and learn skills to help you succeed at UMass Amherst.
