This seminar will support your transition to college and introduce you to a topic in engineering. The course will be an exploration of an exciting engineering-related topic of societal impact. This seminar will also introduce basic skills and available resources skills for life as a college student.

First-year (R1ST) Course Title: Introduction to Fairness in Machine Learning Algorithms
This course will introduce fairness in machine learning algorithms used in social media, hiring, and healthcare applications. Students will explore real-world cases of biased algorithms, investigate their social impact, and learn methods to design fairer machine learning systems, particularly in federated learning settings.
