Work - much of our lives revolve around it. In fact, many of you are starting at UMass this fall to ultimately land a job in a career field you are passionate about. As sociologists, we are fascinated by the deeper social processes and interactions that occur in the workplace. In this course, we are going to spend some time exploring how sociology can help us understand the intricate workplace social processes that shape our work experiences. We?ll think about why work is organized in certain ways, the relationship between workers and managers, gender and racial forms of workplace inequality, and more. Additionally, we will also spend time tackling a very important question: how do you succeed as a college student at UMass? We?ll cover some helpful topics such as time management, health services available to you, eating habits, making social and professional connections, and more
