Stepping into the world of policy studies can be both exciting and overwhelming, but you don?t have to navigate it alone. Your First Year Policy Blueprint is designed to support first-year students in their transition to college life while providing essential academic and campus resources to help them understand the expectations, resources, and benefits of being a student at UMass. The First Year Seminar (FYS) will include multiple discussions, hands-on activities, and structured mentorship, through which students will connect with faculty, staff, and upper-level peers who have already paved the way. This course fosters a sense of community, equipping students with the skills and confidence to make the most of their academic experience and build a strong foundation for the professional world. By the end of the semester, students will feel empowered to engage with policy studies and campus life with clarity, purpose, and connection.
