This is a course designed to introduce students to the theories, methods, and debates in the sociological approach to ethnography. At its most general, ethnography is a method of studying and learning about people most often within the context of their own environment and everyday practices. It is often characterized by immersion into that context, participation, and the use of qualitative inquiry.

Sociology graduate students only.
