Studio. Basic practice and theory of painting developed through the study of traditional and contemporary procedures used in the development of pictorial form. Emphasis on still life, landscape, and the human figure. Materials: oil and/or aqueous media.
Open to Undergraduates with majors in Art, BFA-Art, and BFA-Art Education only. ART 104, 110, or 120 This studio course focuses on the human figure, with emphasis on painting from life. Includes basic practice and theory of painting, focusing on figurative painting and its context in painting today. Students will study traditional and contemporary procedures as well as contemporary and historical issues, such as the gaze, subjectivity, and who is painted. Materials: oil and/or aqueous media.
