This course is designed to provide a learning community for all students to discuss the value of, importance in, and skills to contribute to positive social change as a student leader in the residence halls at UMass Amherst.

This course is required of all students offered a placement or waitlist position for the Resident Assistant (RA) and Peer Mentor (PM) for the 2025-2026 academic year. In order to meet eligibility requirements for the RA or PM positions, candidates must successfully pass this course prior to the start of their employment duties and dates.

The purpose of this course is to provide a learning community for all students to discuss the value of, importance in, and skills to contribute to positive social change as a student leader in the residence halls at UMass Amherst.

This course meets for eight weeks for two hours a week. The first class of the semester will be the week of March 3, 2025, and the last class of the semester will be the week of May 5, 2025.

Resident Assistant (RA) and Peer Mentor (PM) applications for the 2025-2026 academic year have closed. Once the selection process has concluded and offers have been made, students will learn more about how to enroll. This course is restricted to students who were hired or placed on the waitlist for the RA/PM position for the 2025-2026 academic year.
