French Studies 333 - Medicine in France

In this course we will study the French health system, from its origins to its contemporary functioning. We will develop our medical vocabulary, stage professional situations, and discuss ethical issues. We will also discover all the oddities and advances that have shaped the French medical landscape over time. The aim of this 3-credit course is to provide you with the basics of medical French and to prepare you for reading medical texts and for handling medical language in everyday and professional situations. Those of you who wish can take the Diplome de Francais Professionnel de la Sante offered by the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
