Japanese 491D - Japanese through Anime & Drama

This course explores Japanese language and culture through the engaging mediums of anime and drama. Designed for students with a foundational knowledge of Japanese, this class will use popular anime series and Japanese TV dramas to introduce colloquial expressions, cultural nuances, and conversational patterns commonly used in everyday Japanese. Students will be engaged not only in learning passively from the materials provided but also in developing autonomy to create personalized learning plans that enhance their knowledge. Weekly activities will include listening and speaking practice, vocabulary building, and discussions to deepen comprehension and cultural understanding. By the end of the course, students will have improved their conversational Japanese skills and gained insight into contemporary Japanese society.
