Students in WebGIS will explore web-based applications in Geographic Information Science (GIS). This course will focus on hands-on practice using and building web-based mapping and analysis platforms, including ArcGIS Online, Open Street Map, Leaflet, Mapbox, and others. Along with conceptual discussion of how the internet, web servers, and cloud-based GIS services function, students will create and host web services, design websites, and create products relevant to their coursework, research, or professional goals.
Meets with Geograph 493W and Geograph 693W.
The instructor will be teaching in person at the Mount Ida Campus. Students have several options for attending: they may join the class in person at the Mount Ida School of Design, participate via live Zoom in Holdsworth 302, join live from home via Zoom, or watch recorded sessions asynchronously from home.
