This course, taught in Portuguese and English, provides students with an overview of translation and interpreting theories and practices applied to community settings. Students will explore the use, need, and demand of translation and interpreting in Lusophone diasporic communities across the country, and practice translation and interpreting on different types of authentic texts/speeches, analyze and reflect on their performance as cultural and linguistic mediators.
