This is a stand-alone independent study designed by the student and faculty sponsor that involves frequent interaction between instructor and student. Qualitative and quantitative enrichment must be evident on the proposed contract before consent is given to undertake the study.

Students must apply through CHC PATHS to add this course THE STUDENT DEADLINE TO COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THEIR PART OF AN HONORS 196ISH INDEPENDENT STUDY APPLICATION USING CHC PATHS IS AUGUST 15. To add this course, ask the course instructor if he/she is willing to work with you on an honors enrichment independent study for their course. If they answer yes submit your proposal through CHC PATHS (honors.umass.edu/chc-paths/) for online approval by your sponsor and other reviewers, including the Academic Standards Committee of the Faculty Senate's Commonwealth Honors College Council. Once fully approved it will be registered in SPIRE by Commonwealth Honors College.
