Structure and function of biological molecules, especially proteins, lipids and carbohydrates. Important concepts include bioenergetics, biological catalysis, and metabolic pathways as interacting regulated systems. Having taken a full year of organic chemistry (or second semester concurrently) is strongly recommended.
Open to Graduate students only. BIOCHEM 275 w/ B-, CHEM class In this course, students can choose how they want to be graded from 2 different grading schemes. One of these grading schemes involves participation in peer-led team learning (PLTL) sessions.
Students who do not want to attend PLTL sessions should enroll in discussion section 99AA, which does not have a date/time. All students will start out by enrolling in section 99AA.
Students who can commit to attending PLTL sessions should sign up for a discussion section at a date/time that works with their schedule (section 99AB, 99AC, 99AD, etc). These sections will open-up during the first week of classes.
