This course introduces students to the design of structural systems such as arches, cable supported structures, tall buildings and repetitively-framed buildings through readings, historical study, analysis and design exercises. At the end of the course students will be able to develop conceptual designs for structural systems that solve a wide variety of structural engineering problems and do so based on the historical context of great works of structural engineering. Satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for CE-ENGIN students.
