For the Visiting Filmmakers of the 21st Century Series, this course offers a hands-on introduction to the videographic study of television. Through a series of short creative editing exercises and guided projects, students will explore how television can be studied through editing: by reworking, juxtaposing, and transforming its sounds and images. The course emphasizes practice and experimentation, encouraging students to develop their own videographic works engaging with television series or episodes of their choice. Alongside screenings and discussions that provide context and inspiration, the focus will remain on creative process, technique, and conceptual exploration through making. Basic familiarity with a digital editing platform is helpful, but students may also acquire these skills independently as the course progresses. This course fulfills the Film Production Concentration of the Film Major.
